The City of Colton welcomed its 5th Starbucks to the city recently, which according to Mayor Frank Navarro means, “You can never have too much Starbucks!” The 3000 square foot store is the largest and latest addition to the Colton landscape, which can be seen off the 10 freeway. The new location, which is on the corner of Pepper and Valley, is part of a larger project to revitalize the surrounding area and will be known as The Colton Gateway Shopping Center.

The project is just now coming to fruition after years of meetings, planning and overcoming hurdles and obstacles. Mayor Navarro attributed much of the work to his fellow council members and former Mayor of Colton Richard DeLa Rosa, who was also on hand for the ceremony. Certificates of recognition from the San Bernardino County Supervisors 5th District office, Senator Connie Leyva’s office and the City of Colton were awarded to the store manager Sonia Fleming, welcoming her and her staff to the community and wishing them great success. Miss Colton was also in attendance to help welcome the new business.

The area is buzzing with excitement in anticipation for the new California University of Science and Medicine building which is expected to be opening in the spring of 2020. Students will have a great opportunity to frequent a variety of great eats right near campus!

The Colton Gateway Shopping Center is located at the southeast corner of Valley Boulevard and Pepper Avenue in Colton.  Developers Scott Fawcett of the Marinita Development Group and Michael Lundin of Canaan Pacific Development Group partnered to develop the site and the two received a heartfelt “thank you” from Mayor Navarro for investing in Colton as well.

In addition to Starbucks, the I-10 freeway-visible center will be home to a drive-through Habit Burger Grill, a Popeye’s Chicken, a sub shop, and other retail establishments.
