Box Springs Mountain to Sport High Schools' Colors

By City of Moreno Valley

08/18/2022 at 07:31 AM

From Friday, June 8, through Tuesday, June 12, the iconic M on Box Springs Mountain will be lighted in honor of Moreno Valley high schools and their graduates from the Moreno Valley and Val Verde unified school districts. The lightings will feature schools' colors on the evenings of their scheduled graduation events.

"We hope every member of the high school Class of 2020 in our City feels recognized and honored, especially since they can't have a traditional commencement ceremony," explained Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "We're proud of their achievement and wish them each the very best."

Several high schools have graduation events scheduled for the same days. Their colors will take turns for one minute at a time, separated by a five-second break. The lighting schedule is as follows:

June 8

March Mountain High School, gold

Moreno Valley Online Academy, burgundy

Rancho Verde High School, red and silver

June 9

Canyon Springs High School, teal (black can't be lighted)

June 10

Moreno Valley High School, blue and gold

June 11

Valley View High School, red and white

June 12

Bayside Community Day School, green and gold

Vista del Lago High School, purple and silver

The M is lighted most evenings in recognition of holidays and various causes. If you're curious about why it's lighted a certain color or colors, visit the M calendar on the City's website at www.moval.org/mschedule.
