On Tuesday, August 20, 2019, Valley View High School hosted a vigil in honor of fallen CHP Officer Andre Moye Jr.

The Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, cabinet members, students, staff, and community members gathered together around the flag pole to honor the life and service of Officer Moye.

The vigil began with JFROTC and band conducting the flag salute followed by a moment of silence. The choir beautifully performed “He’s my brother” in front of the entire audience, and Valley View student Asjah Morris performed “Amazing Grace.”

“We are here today to honor the life and memory of an Eagle, Mr. Andre Maurice Moye, Jr.,” said Valley View Principal Karen Johnson. “Mr. Moye was an Alumni from the class of 2003. He was also a member of the Crimson Regiment band and played in the Wind Ensemble. We honor this Eagle for his life, his legacy and his service to our school as well as our community. We know that he has earned his wings this morning... he will forever leave his memory and mark on our school and our community, so Soar Eagle! Soar!”

MVUSD and the community of Moreno Valley are proud to have been the home place where Officer Moye grew into the astonishing young man he was.

“He was one of our own and we were very proud of who he had become,” Dr. Kedziora said. “Officer Moye will be remembered for his dedication to our community as well as all of Riverside County.”

“Moreno Valley Unified School District is tremendously mourning the loss of Officer Andre Moye Jr.,” said Board of Education Clerk Dr. Marsha Locke. “We send our deepest condolences to the friends and family. We will forever remember Officer Andre Moye Jr. for his heroic service.”
