This Father’s Day, Hangar 24 Craft Brewing’s Redlands Taproom will serve as an airport terminal of sorts, offering the opportunity to take the flight of a lifetime. In an experience done in conjunction with the Palm Springs Air Museum, flights will be offered, this Sunday, June 17, in pair of iconic military aircraft: A C-47 Dakota and a P-51 Mustang.

The C-47 Dakota, named “What’s Up Doc?” offers the surroundings that paratroopers experienced when flying behind enemy lines on D-Day. Each flight in Redlands on Father’s Day can handle up to five people, who have up-close-and-personal contact with the pilots in the cockpit. The flight is $225 per person and includes one Father’s Day brunch at the Taproom.

The P-51 Mustang “Bunny” offers an experience in a fighter-bomber that was used in both World War II and the Korean War, among other conflicts. The one being flown on Father’s Day has a powerful Rolls Royce Merlin engine that allowed it to reach nearly 42,000 feet on bomber escort runs. Each flight in a P-51 is $1,995 per person and includes brunch for four.

The entire flight experience takes 45 minutes, with 20 minutes in the air between wheels up and wheels down. Flying starts at 11 a.m. and continues until sunset to meet as much demand as possible. Some restrictions to apply. Flights are limited to participants 13-years old and older.

In addition to vintage military aircraft, there will also be a Father’s Day brunch at the Redlands Taproom from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost is $15.95 per person and includes a carving station with rosemary prime rib or chicken, green bean almondine, roasted red peppers, rolls, dessert and a pint of Hangar 24 beer. There is also a kids meal of chicken tenders and fries. Live music starts at noon.

The Hangar 24 Craft Brewing Redlands Taproom is located at 1710 Sessums Drive, across the street from the Redlands Municipal Airport.
