LifeHouse Theater is pleased to announce its new theatrical line-up for the 26th season of 2019-2020.  The theater has christened the upcoming slate of musicals “A Season of Courage,” as each production features characters who must be courageous to overcome the challenges they face.

“We are already setting another new record for season subscribers,” commented LifeHouse Theater President Wayne R. Scott.  “We believe our exciting Season of Courage will inspire our guests and we look forward to launching our next season.”

The 26th season will be launched with the return of the dramatic original play “Job - A Modern Man.” (October 26 – November 24, 2019).  The production asks provocative questions.  What if the biblical Job lived today?  What if he lived in our modern world, as a successful executive with a loving family, loyal friends and the best life has to offer?  And, as in the scriptural story, what if he lost it all in a flash?  This gripping parallel story of Job is set in contemporary times and, through dramatic staging and video, explores the age-old question: “where is God in the midst of trouble and tragedy?”

LifeHouse celebrates the Christmas season with the world premiere of the original musical, “Gift of the Magi” (December 7 - 29, 2019).  It’s the season of giving, but Jim and Della lack the resources needed to give each other that one perfect gift.  Love, sacrifice and commitment are celebrated as the classic story by O. Henry comes to LifeHouse Theater with seasonal joy.

The New Year brings a new look at amazing women of history with “Women Warriors” (January 11 - 26, 2020).  In this one-woman performance, author and actress Annette Hubbell brings to life the extraordinary stories of ordinary women who transformed themselves, paved the way for others, and left the world a better place. Among the women portrayed are Corrie ten Boom, Gladys Aylward, Amy Carmichael and Sojourner Truth.

Next, Dr. Seuss is on the loose as a Broadway favorite, “Seussical” (February 8 - March 8, 2020) comes to LifeHouse Theater. Audiences will encounter the whimsical Cat in the Hat as he tells the story of Horton, an elephant who must protect a speck of dust containing the Whos and their unique world.  This toe-tapping musical is a delightful tribute to the beloved Seuss universe and fun for the whole family.

An inspirational musical event follows with “The Rise of King David” (March 21 - April 26, 2020).  The scriptural true events in the life of a shepherd, soldier, psalmist and king stunningly unfold as the life of Israel’s greatest monarch is traced in this musical biography of King David.

Next, hearts will be touched by the classic story of four “Little Women” (May 9 - June 14, 2020). The lives of Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy are traced during the difficult days of the Civil War.  Audiences will experience the joy, tears and laughter that follow the antics of the March household as LifeHouse brings to life this charming musical adaptation of one of the world’s most popular and beloved stories.

A world-premiere follows as LifeHouse presents its latest new musical, “King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table” (June 27 - August 2, 2020).  Fun for the whole family abounds as the famous king leads his noble knights and trusted advisor Merlin against the forces that threaten his kingdom.  Humor, romance, and intrigue combine with suspenseful stage combat for an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Then, the dazzling musical comedy of “Esther!” (August 15 - September 13, 2020) returns to LifeHouse Theater by popular demand. The biblical book of Esther explodes with rollicking hilarity as the evil Haman schemes to outwit bumbling King Xerxes for control of the Persian Empire. With the help of her wise cousin Mordecai, Esther cleverly thwarts Haman’s plot through her inspiring faith and surprising true events.

The season concludes with the long-awaited return of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (September 26 - October 25, 2020). Audiences will witness the courage of Esmerelda and Quasimodo as their heartwarming friendship and determination to do what is right transforms the people of 15th century Paris. Produced to critical acclaim at the Redlands Bowl, this musical rendition of the Victor Hugo classic is a moving portrayal of love and loyalty.

For the 26th Season, LifeHouse Theater will again be offering a series of Sunday Night Specials to compliment the regular season productions. These events are designed to provide audiences with unusual theatrical experiences and will be presented on select Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM.  Tickets for these specials are $16 for adults and $9 for children ages 3-11.
