Achieving a perfect score on a challenging state assessment in a single subject area is a feat in and of itself, but 84 Redlands Unified School District (RUSD) students attained perfect scores on Redlands Unified School District students achieve Perfect-Perfect Scores on state assessments both the English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics tests according to the 2017-18 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) results.
“I am so proud of the accomplishments of our students,” said Superintendent Mauricio Arellano. “This is a reflection of the collaborative efforts of our teachers, principals and parents to support our students and put them first.”
Each spring, students across the state in the third through eighth and 11th grades participate in the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment, which measures student proficiency in ELA and Mathematics.
This very rigorous test includes multiple choice, multiple response, short answer, and performance task questions.
Approximately 10,500 RUSD students took the exam last year. 176 students across the District achieved a perfect score in Mathematics, which is an increase of 74 students from the previous year. RUSD saw even more considerable gains in ELA with a total of 332 perfect scores, up by 110 from the last year. However, 84 RUSD students obtained the highest possible score in both ELA and Mathematics. This was an increase of 17 students from the previous year.
These students are some of the brightest academic stars our community has to offer and they showcase our District’s longstanding commitment to excellence in academics.
On Tuesday, September 25, RUSD Superintendent Mauricio Arellano joined the Board of Education in recognizing 30 elementary students for their extraordinary achievements. Secondary students were recognized during the October 6 Board of Education meeting.
