Canyon Springs High School and the Moreno Valley Unified School District plan to start the first football season at the new Canyon Springs High School Athletic Complex with a day of events, leading into a special Saturday evening game against inter-city rival Moreno Valley. The game on Saturday, August 25 will kick off at 7 p.m.

In addition to the game, the school will host junior-level community football games beginning at 2 p.m., a carnival from 3 to 6 p.m. and a special opening ceremony including former athletes at 6:15 p.m.

Fans are invited to stay after the game for a fireworks show and presentation of the Butterfield Cup trophy to the winning team.

“We are very proud of this new facility and we invite the entire Moreno Valley community to come out to support our two local schools,” said Board President Susan Smith, “This will be truly a community celebration with activities for families in addition to the football game.”

The game is expected to sell out; fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance of the game.

The school will hold a presale for the public on three dates:

August 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the CSHS Stadium Visitor Ticket Booth

August 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the CSHS Gym

August 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the CSHS Stadium Visitor Ticket Booth

Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students and children.

Canyon Springs High School students will have an opportunity to get tickets free with their ASB card before August 23.

“We look forward to welcoming a large crowd for this special event,” said Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, “The school is very deserving of this celebration for their first-ever home football game.”
