Solving the Artist’s Dilemma

On Sunday, June 9, 2019, the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association is happy to repeat an annual event: presentation of the latest media developments from Golden Acrylic Paints.  Our presenter will be a multi-talented artist, Kathryn Elliott.  She calls herself a “materials geek” as if to summarize the broad reach of her artistic, craft, and fabric media interests.  Tempera, Oil, Acrylic, Intaglio, sewing, weaving, she loves them all.  But this is all about Golden Acrylics.

Kathryn says that the “most thrilling part” of what she has mastered is to “use the knowledge to ‘solve’ artists’ dilemmas when (they are) trying to create a specific effect”.  Since 2015 as a Golden Working Artist, she anticipates the satisfaction of “developing an array of acrylic techniques” to make the best use of a rapidly expanding body of products available at Golden.  (Also, look online for her own company, ART WORKOUT, developed to educate and inspire artists at all levels, all ages.)

So, it will be Learning Time at the LL Senior Center. Kathryn brings a gift baggie with samples of new Golden products for each attendee.  She will be able to answer questions about using those beautiful paints, so interested artists should come prepared to ask some!  Solving our dilemmas, remember, is Kathryn Elliott’s pleasure and habit.

The June 9 event will be held, from 2pm to 4pm, in the Loma Linda Senior Center, which is located at the southeastern corner of the Loma Linda civic complex (25541 Barton Road).  Our setting allows for up-close viewing and conversational interchange with our demonstrating artist. Non-LLCAA members are asked for a $5.00 donation at the door. For LLU students there is no charge.
