A candle light vigil was held at Cal Skate Grand Terrace on Monday evening for the loss of a respected member of the community. Business owner, Ryan Harsany, was murdered early Saturday morning at his business, Cal Skate Grand Terrace. The community gathered Monday evening to remember him and mourn. Friends, family, and anyone who ever skated at Cal Skate Grand Terrace showed to pay their respects. Candles were light and placed in front of the entrance, along with a beautiful display of flowers. Signs were made and posted on the fences. Including signs from the IE Derby Girls and members of the community.

A release from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department stated, “On Saturday, March 16, 2019, at approximately 1:49 am, deputies from the Central Station/Grand Terrace Police Department responded to a business in the 22000 block of Commerce Way in Grand Terrace following the report of a robbery/silent alarm.  Upon arrival, deputies saw smoke coming from the building and fire responded.  Deputies and fire personnel entered the building and found the victim unconscious and a fire inside.  The victim was transported to a local area hospital where it was determined he had suffered gunshot wounds.  The victim was pronounced deceased at 7:26 am.

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.”

The victim has been identified as 43 year-old, Ryan Harsany. Harsany was a local business owner of Cal Skate Grand Terrace, as well as owner of a restaurant called, Inferno, which is located in Brawley. He was known to the local community for his kindness and welcoming spirit. Family and friends have taken to Facebook posting about him and his impact on their lives. His brother-in-law Michael Guymon posted, “Ryan brought joy to everyone he touched and was always giving to the community. Words don't and can't capture how hard this is on everyone in the family as well as the people Ryan employed.” Guymon also asked for those who know Harsany to “drop a note of love,” on Harsany’s personal  Facebook profile.

James Belamide, a childhood friend posted to Harsany’s Facebook profile, “Ryan had a heart of gold and would take the shirt off his back for anyone and put his 110% in all he did…”

The Inland Empire Derby Divas gave a special letter to Harsany, reminiscing about the time spent with him. “He was our biggest fan, our greatest supporter. He loved us as much as we loved him. We were his derby girls and he was our champion. Ryan Harsany, you taught us so much in the short time we had with you. Your smile lit up a room and your laughter was infectious.” Ending their post with, “We skate for you.”

The Cal Skate website has posted the business will be closed until further notice.

No additional information is being released at this time. Updates will be issued as new information becomes available for release.
