In honor of the upcoming holidays, the tenacious young ladies of Girl Scout Troop 76 elected to host a festive artwork event with the residents of Brookdale Senior Living. The activity room was appropriately adorned with its own colorful fir tree, ornaments, and wreaths, exacerbating the air of anticipation.
After some polite introductions, the girls spread out and began helping the seniors as they followed a troop leader’s instructions to paint their own decorative Christmas trees. Every painting canvas was unique, with each person adding a bit of personal flair to it. The Girl Scouts ensured that all participants had the material that they required, and aided in general painting guidance. By the time the creative process was nearly finished, many seniors were laughing and visibly enjoying themselves, marking the holiday event as a definitive, memorable success.
The Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council are quite famous for giving back and providing much needed aid within their communities, and Girl Scout Troop 76 is no different. One of their troop leaders, Ms. Julia Firnkoess, attests to the importance of the girls actively creating and taking part in events such as this one, “It helps the girls become a part of the community. It helps them to understand the needs of others… and to build character.”
Indeed, by voluntarily holding this interactive art activity, Girl Scout Troop 76 is effectively spreading their own brand of love and cheer, proving a wonderful way of giving back to the greater community as well as themselves.
