This morning at 0755 hours, #SBCoFD crews were dispatched to smoke in the area of Hallmark Pkwy & University Ave, in San Bernardino. Minutes later another 911 caller reported the smoke was from a commercial occupancy and that there was people possibly trapped inside. The call was upgraded to a Commercial Structure fire response, bringing additional crews.

ME75 arrived on-scene to the 4100 Block of Hallmark Pkwy to find heavy smoke from a large single-story commercial structure. The building, a 16,000 square foot office building with multiple units, was reported vacant at the time. With the reported trapped occupants, crews initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack, prioritizing both fire attack and search. Due to the size of the building and smoke conditions, a second alarm was quickly struck. Crews encountered heavy smoke conditions inside the occupancy and utilized vertical ventilation to aid in smoke removal and to increase survivability inside the structure.

The fire was knocked down in approximately 80 minutes. After completing a primary and secondary search, no victims were found. The fire is under investigation by San Bernardino County Fire Investigators. The building, vacant at the time of the fire sustained heavy damage. No cause or damage estimates were available at the time of the release.

#SBCoFD responded with 10 engines, 3 Trucks, 3 Chief Officers, 1 Air/Light Unit, 1 Safety Officer & 2 Fire Investigators. While crews were engaged on the fire, move-up crews from other stations were brought to San Bernardino to ensure there was uninterrupted Fire/EMS coverage.
