The Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees announced new officers for 2017-18. For the first time in four years, the Board has a new president.

The RCCD Board of Trustee officers for 2017-18 are:

Vackar, Board president, was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2014. She is a former member of the Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Education and is currently executive director of College, Career and Economic Development in the Fontana Unified School District.

Green has served as a District trustee since 2006. For Green, a retired educational administrator and nurse as well as a US Veteran, this will be her sixth time serving as Board vice president.

Figueroa, who was elected to the Board in 1995, is the longest serving trustee. She is also on the California Community College Trustees board of directors. Figueroa retired from the State of California Department of Corrections where she was a correctional counselor.

Blumenthal and Hedrick will function as members. Blumenthal, who has served as the Board’s president six of the last eight terms, has been a trustee since 2006. She is president of Blumenthal Law Offices in Riverside.

Elected to the Board in 2016, Hedrick is a former member of the Corona-Norco Unified School District Board of Education. He had a successful career in public education as a teacher and advocate.

The positions are for one year. The role of the Board of Trustees is to establish policies to assure the quality, integrity and effectiveness of the colleges’ programs and services as well as the financial stability of the District.
