Redlands Symphony Prepares for Women, Wine, & Handbags

Over-the-shoulder, hobo, evening, and clutch: What do they have in common?  These are just a few of the large selection of purses that will be available for sale at the Redlands Symphony Women, Wine & Handbags! fundraiser on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Tickets are $40 per person and include hors d’oeuvres and libations, as well as the right to bid on more than 100 gently used and new designer handbags.

“This is the fourth year for this event,” says committee member Ann Bryan, “And it’s quickly become a Redlands tradition and go-to for a good time, good food and wine and great buys on wonderful handbags. It’s not definitely your mother’s Tupperware party.  All the money raised goes to support the Redlands Symphony’s music education programs for kids and our season of classical concerts.”

This year’s Purse Party Committee includes Ann Bryan, Kristin Hopkins, Shirley Harry, Mary Carruthers, Jill Jordan, Elaine Cohoe, Nancy Aplin, Kristin Pierce, Marilyn Solter, Cheryl Ewart and Abby Hyman.

The Committee hopes to have over 150 purses on display for sale at the event in both silent and live auctions.  “We are still collecting purses,” according to committee member Nancy Aplin, “They can be dropped off at the symphony office (210 E. Citrus in Redlands).

Among the dozens of designers represented in this year’s collection are Tory, Burch, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Burberry, Furla, Rebecca Minkoff and Cole Haan.

This year’s event will be held at the home of Jill and Matt Jordan, 328 W. Mariposa in Redlands.  Shuttle pick-up is available from the special parking area on Halsey to the front door of the Jordan home.  Parking is limited, so carpooling is recommended.

Reservations are strongly advised.
