Obernolte's to be Featured Speakers

On Friday, May 17, 2019, the Redlands Republican Women’s Club is pleased to announce that California Assemblyman Jay Obernolte and his wife, Heather, will be the featured speakers at the Club's lunch meeting. The meeting will be held at the Redlands Country Club starting at 11:30 AM, with lunch served at noon, and the presentation scheduled at 12:30 PM. The cost for lunch is $20 and reservations must be made by May 15. For reservations call Laurie Tremain at (909) 792-2501. if you want to hear the speakers and not have lunch, there is no cost and there will be seats available. College students are invited to attend and lunch will be free.

Jay Obernolte has represented California’s 33rd Assembly District since 2014. Before joining the Assembly, he served as the Mayor of Big Bear Lake for four years and on the Board of Directors for the Big Bear City Airport. Obernolte is an entrepreneur, founding his own video game company in 1988. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Applied Science from the California Institute of technology and a Masters degree in Artificial Intelligence from UCLA.

Assemblyman Obernolte serves on the following committees: Vice Chair of Budget Committee; Vice Chair of Communications and Conveyance; Appropriations; Business and Professions; Judiciary; Privacy; six budget subcommittees and evaluation committee.

Jay and his wife, Heather live in Big Bear Lake with their two children. 

Heather and Jay Obernolte moved to Big Bear Lake in 1995 and started their family with son, Hale, born in 1998 and Troy born in 2000. Heather has homeschooled her sons for nine years! she has been actively involved with them, including her involvement in Cub Scouts.

Heather had earned her Masters Degree in child psychology at Pepperdine University in 1994 and worked in Glendale with abused boys. Then she became a figure skating instructor in order to have a positive influence with children.

In Big Bear Lake into 1995 Heather quickly became involved in community organizations: she was a hotline supervisor, legal advocate and counselor for DOVES (Domestic Violence Education and Services) for 10 years. She is also affiliated with Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley.

When her husband Jay, was elected to the California State Legislature she became a strong supporting partner in this endeavor. Heather is now the Inland Empire Regional Vice Chair for the California Republican Party among other positions in the Republican Party in the High Desert and Big Bear area.
