The San Bernardino National Forest has a new district ranger for its San Jacinto Ranger District. Julie Hall comes from Inyo National Forest in Eastern California, where she was the supervisory administrative operations specialist. She is filling the shoes of Arturo Delgado, who has moved to Salton Sea program for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Hall started her new role in January.
Hall began her Forest Service career in 1985 as a Youth Conservation Corps employee on the Inyo. She worked as a temporary employee in recreation and visitor information services during college and after graduating, joined the Inyo full time, enjoying numerous roles, including engineering program manager and civil rights officer. She has also taken various assignments throughout California's national forests as a district ranger and an air tanker base manager at the Hemet-Ryan Air Base and San Bernardino Tanker Base.
"I'm excited to be back in Southern California, continuing my passion for serving the public with the Forest Service," said Hall. "I look forward to meeting district residents and stakeholders and working with them for years to come."
The San Jacinto Ranger District is one of three districts on the forest. It encompasses 203,834 acres of Forest Service land, mainly in the San Jacinto Mountains. It surrounds several communities, including Idyllwild, Pine Cove, Mountain Center, Garner Valley and Pinyon Pines. The district includes Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, which is co-managed with the Bureau of Land Management and Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, with significant collaboration from other partners. There are two visitor contact stations, one in Idyllwild, where Hall's office is located, and the national monument visitor center in Palm Desert.
Hall is married with three children. Her husband is a firefighter and paramedic for San Bernardino County.
