Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) announced today the appointment of Sharon Brown, RN, MSN, as President-Elect to the 2019 Board of Directors for the Trauma Managers Association of California (TMAC). Brown, clinical director II, for Critical Care and Emergency Services, has served in the trauma nursing field in various roles at ARMC for more than 15 years.

TMAC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure the optimal care of the injured patient in an organized system from prehospital through rehabilitation, accomplishing this through public-private partnership, leadership, education, advocacy, interdisciplinary collaboration, evidence-based practice, data, performance improvement, and injury prevention.

“I have been a part of TMAC for several years, and value their leadership for trauma system development, mentoring and education for those of us who provide trauma care every day,” said Brown. “I am honored to now join the board in supporting the organization’s ongoing mission to continually improve trauma care.”

At ARMC, Brown implemented the Stop-the-Bleed program, a free workshop to San Bernardino County residents that covers life-saving measures bystanders can perform to save a life in traumatic situations, in an active shooter incident, or a multi-casualty event. Over the course of her tenure, she has advanced her trauma nursing skills through participation in ongoing trauma-related conferences and seminars. She is also currently an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN).

ARMC is a Level II American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified trauma center and regional burn center, with an annual trauma volume of more than 3,000 patients.
