As has been written before, the cities surrounding the National Orange Show (NOS) in San Bernardino have been inundated with extreme music noise levels at the different events held at the event site. Mayor Darcy McNaboe of Grand Terrace reported to the rest of the council members and residents in her remarks on January 9, 2018 at the council meeting that there had been one meeting concerning this issue to date. She said, “I have spoken to Mayor Carey Davis of the City of San Bernardino and one of the events at the NOS was marijuana elated. Mayor Davis was trying to impress upon the NOS that these types of events don’t fit with the City and the surrounding cities i.e. Grand Terrace, Colton, Loma Linda and Highland and the reputation they are trying to build.” Currently the Grand Terrace City Attorney believes most of the Orange Show events affect the City of San Bernardino and the other surrounding cities and is beginning to take a toll on each. The loud music has been an ongoing concern for the past few years and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
Mayor Davis of San Bernardino has suggested that the surrounding city Mayors and City Managers meet again in February to discuss and come up to speed on where things are with NOS and an invitation will be sent out to Assemblymember Reye’s office to bring her into the conversation as well. In early March, there is another event scheduled and hopefully some progress will have been made to mute the noise coming from NOS. The citizens have endured enough noise discomfort over these last few years.
