The graduation rate at all Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) high schools for the 2017-2018 year increased to 89.3 percent from 87.8 percent, a 1.5 percent increase. The rate is more than 6 percent higher than the California average and has surpassed the Riverside County average of 88.9 percent.

Since 2010, MVUSD has increased the graduation rate by 23.6 percent and all four comprehensive high schools now boast rates of at least 92 percent.

Three comprehensive high school rates for 2018:

Valley View High School, 94.2%

Canyon Springs High School, 93.4%

Vista del Lago High School 92.7%

Moreno Valley High School, 92%

“We are thrilled to see all four high schools with a rate exceeding 92 percent,” said Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, “We are ‘Shining Brighter with Excellence on Purpose’ in our goal to see all students graduate high school ready for college and/or a career.

“It is with great pride that we now have a graduation rate greater than the national, state, and county rates,” Superintendent Kedziora added.

Student groups with significant increases included Hispanic students at 90 percent (2.2% increase), and English Learner students at 76.7 percent (1.6% increase). Alternative programs at March Mountain High School and Bayside Community Day School experienced large growth in the rates as well, with 4.5 percent and 5.9 percent respectively.

“The Board of Education is happy to see the new graduation rates for Moreno Valley Unified School District,” said Board President Susan Smith. “Our community should be extremely proud of the growth at all of our high school and within our student groups. It shows our educators are providing the support needed for all students to succeed.”
