Grand Terrace will be celebrating their Fabulous 40th Anniversary this year in November. Leading up to the anniversary they are hosting about ten events for residents to come and enjoy. It is a historic event and their activities will be bigger and better than last year. The City is hosting some of the same events that they have done in the past. One event that is coming back this year is their Music & Movies in the Park. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee were looking to other community partners to help sponsor the movies in the Park program in the different parks.  The working committee met around April to plan the event and to decide on the different dates the Movies in the Park will be held.

They decided to host a summer movie series where people have the chance to relax and have fun as a family. One movie will be shown in a different city park on a different day. The selected parks are: Susan Petta Park, Richard Rollins Park, and Veterans Freedom Park. Before the movies start there will be a music session for residents to come early and enjoy music as the cold night air replaces the hot air from the warm afternoon. The City is hoping that the residents will enjoy reconnecting with the beauty of each of these parks.

The music sessions start at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 7:30 p.m. There will be four movies shown on different dates. The first movie is “The Sandlot” which will be shown on Saturday, July 14th at Veterans Freedom Park. The second movie is “Ferdinand” which will be shown on Saturday, July 28th at Richard Rollins Park. The third movie is “Mrs. Doubtfire,” which will be shown on Saturday, August 11th at Richard Rollins Park. The final movie is “Boss Baby,” and it will be shown on Saturday, August 25th at Susan Petta Park. The movie events are free admission.
