Mayor's Weekly Message 76

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley
June 26, 2019 at 04:47pm. Views: 15

Dear Moreno Valley residents,

We hear a lot these days about how divided Americans are. But when it comes to love of country, I believe we are as united as ever. The people of Moreno Valley prove that each year with our outstandingly popular 4th of July Parade and Family FunFest, as residents of all walks of life come together to honor the history of our country, recognize the service of those now defending it, and pledge our undying commitment to ensuring and improving its future.

As your Mayor, it is my honor to invite all residents of Moreno Valley to celebrate America and our shared patriotism at our signature 4th of July Parade and Family FunFest, two of the best-attended Independence Day events in the Inland Empire.

Our famous parade gets underway at 9:30 in the morning on Frederick St. at Alessandro Blvd. and makes its way north toward TownGate Blvd.  The parade is free of charge; just find a place anywhere along the route and enjoy the celebration!  It’s truly a special event and a popular, longstanding MoVal tradition.

Then don’t miss the annual Family Funfest, which gets underway at 2 p.m. at Morrison Park/Mountain View Middle School at the corner of Dracaea Ave. and Morrison St.  This equally popular 4th of July event features a Beer Garden, Youth Fun Zone, food vendors, live bands, and one of the best fireworks shows around at 9 p.m.  And to show your patriotism, be sure to attend the Presentation of the Colors and National Anthem at 3:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through July 1 at the City’s Conference & Recreation Center for just $2 each or $10 for a family of up to six. On July 4, entrance to the Family FunFest is free from 2 – 4 p.m., and $3 per person after 4 p.m. Military members (with ID) and children 5 and under get in free! All-activities Youth Fun Zone passes are good for the whole day for just $8.

Check our website at www.moval.org/fourth for more information.

Moreno Valley’s annual 4th of July Parade and Family FunFest is a wonderful chance for our community to have fun together and celebrate the patriotism that unites us as Americans. Please bring the whole family.

I look forward to meeting you there!
