Mayor's Weekly Message 16

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley
April 25, 2018 at 01:39pm. Views: 13

Dear Moreno Valley Residents:

Moreno Valley’s healthcare landscape continues to grow, and we are creating additional business opportunities.

Construction is underway on the Riverside University Health System’s state-of-the-art 200,000 square-foot medical office building which will expand access to quality health care while creating jobs.

This exciting project includes a new three-story medical office building which will add primary care and specialty physician groups, an outpatient surgery center, and expanded pharmacy services to the Riverside University Health System (RUHS) campus, located at the corner of Nason Street and Cactus Avenue.

The building will feature a 7,000 square-foot lobby and café. A second-floor pedestrian bridge will connect the outpatient facility to the Medical Center, making it easy for traffic to flow through both facilities.

Generations of doctors and nurses have been trained at the 125-year-old public teaching hospital and generations more will learn how to care for those in need at RUHS.

This is not just an investment in a building. It is an investment in the health – and hearts – of our community.

The project is funded through a public-private partnership between the County of Riverside and Trammell Crow Company, which specializes healthcare space development.

The medical office building is expected to open early 2020.

Healthcare isn’t the only area where we are expanding.

Last week, the City Council took the first step to reinvigorating the 65-acre Festival at Moreno Valley shopping center. The Council gave initial approval of an ordinance to expand the kinds of businesses that are allowed to open at the struggling center.

The Council will hear the issue again on May 1, and if it is approved, the ordinance will go into effect 30 days later, paving the way for a mix of uses on the property, including small business parks to set up shop in the center.

Our City is growing – and I look forward to watch our progress take shape in the form of new buildings and new businesses.
