The San Bernardino Public Library and The Sons of the Desert will be screening three holiday movies starring Laurel and Hardy. This free event will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 5:30 PM in the Bing Wong Auditorium at the Feldheym Central Library, 555 W. 6th Street in San Bernardino.

The Sons of the Desert is an international fraternal organization devoted to memory of the persons and films of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The organization is named for the Laurel and Hardy film of the same name. It was founded in 1964 in New York City, by Orson Bean, Al Kilgore, John McCabe, Chuck McCann, and John Municino. Since then, many local chapters have been founded around the world. These chapters are known as "tents" and are named after a Laurel and Hardy film. Each tent also receives an oasis number, which corresponds to the order in which they are admitted to the organization.

The San Bernardino Tent is called the 45 Minutes From Hollywood Tent. They plan to meet regularly at the San Bernardino Library and will have information at this event for those interested in joining.

Babes in Toyland is a Laurel and Hardy musical film that was released on November 30, 1934.  It has become a Christmas time tradition. Stannie Dum and Ollie Dee work at the toy factory and run into the evil Barnaby. Tom-Tom, Bo Peep and Mother Goose are some of the other characters “The Boys” run into.

The silent two-reeler Big Business (1929) will also be shown. Laurel and Hardy are Christmas tree salesmen in July and James Finlayson is one of their non-customers.

Rounding out the evening is the short film Below Zero (1930). The boys are down on their luck musicians in the dead of winter.
