Moreno Valley Unified School District was able to assist about 2,000 people at the third-annual Health and Resource Fair earlier today. The Moreno Valley Conference Center had a line out the door for the back-to-school event focused on supporting children to start the school year on the right foot. The event, co-sponsored by MVUSD Student Services, Molina Healthcare and Assemblymember Jose Medina, provided families almost 60 resources all for free.
It was a one-stop-shop for all things back-to-school, including physicals and immunizations, haircuts, backpacks, clothing, and more. Families were able to connect with vital community services like banks, churches and other organizations. There was also a raffle including many items that families could use for back-to-school time.
School Board President Susan Smith, Vice President Jesús Holguin, and Clerk Cleveland Johnson attended the event to greet families along with Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora.
“We are so proud to provide this event that ensures our students and families are ready to begin the school year with everything they need,” said Board President Susan Smith, "We would also like to thank all of our sponsors for being here to provide these important services to the families."
The event was coordinated by Educational Services: Chief Academic Officer Maribel Mattox, Student Services Director Dr. Lynne Sheffield, Coordinator Patty Rucker and Wellness Liaison Connie Edwards.
