GT Trio Takes Next Step Together

Three High School graduates Asia Anderson, Zierra Smith, and Mikaila Mao from Grand Terrace High School commit to La Sierra University August 28th,2018. These three have played high school basketball together for 4 years and get to continue there basketball career for another 4 more years. Not only do they have a connection on and off the court but they have been great friends since middle school. 

Mikaila Mao is a 5'4"  guard from Grand Terrace High School, she was a part of the basketball and track and field team throughout high school. After her freshmen season in high school, she was voted the team's most valuable player.  With plenty of family support, Mikaila has four siblings. Mikaila is definitely known for her amazing 3 pointers and great ball handling skills. While at La Sierra, Mao plans on completing requirements in order to attend nursing school. She is very excited to see what La Sierra has in store for her.

Zierra Smith, is a Pre-physical Therapy major. She has played basketball for all four years of high school and was recognized as the team's most valuable player and most improved player, during that span. She was known for her 3 pointers and great passes. Smith was also a member of the Principal's Honor Roll and the Honor Roll, evidence of her hard work and dedication in the classroom. Zierra was definitely a student athlete and a great team player on and off the court. Her family is very excited to see her play at la Sierra and support her along the way. 

Asia Anderson arrives at La Sierra and plans on studying health science with a profession in pre-dentistry. During her 4-year high school career, she played basketball all four years and volleyball for two seasons. After her freshmen season, she was recognized as the Most Improved player.  In her sophomore season, she won the team's Most Valuable Player award. During her final two seasons, Anderson was a 1st Team All-League selection. Her accomplishments in the classroom were also recognized, as a member of the Principal's Honor Roll for all four years of her high school career. Asia is a hard working athlete and plans to continue doing so these next 4 years.
