On Sunday June 10th, the Junior Division Softball team from Grand Terrace Little League, won the District 21 Championship. This weekend, on Sunday, June 24th at 6pm, they will compete in the Section 8 Tournament against neighboring Districts at Veterans Freedom Park here in Grand Terrace. They have had an impressive record, finishing their regular season with 14 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie. During the District Tournament, they earned two more wins, holding their record at 16 wins, 0 loses and 1 tie.

Over half of the girls have been playing in Grand Terrace Little League since they were 5 years old. Each girl has played against each other at one point in time during their years at GTLL. This year, they had one goal in mind. To come together and play their last year to win a championship banner for their city. They started off as Grand Terrace Reign, and transitioned to Grand Terrace All Stars. Now they will transition again to District 21 All Stars and compete for the section 8 title.

Not only did the girls come together as a team, their coaches have also teamed up with the same goal in mind as they finish up their years as softball coaches at GTLL. Each coach competed against each other during their years as they took on teams of their own. Coaches Andrew Tapia, Adrianne Tapia, Nicole Vega, Mike Calhoon, Bob Chavez and Paul Johnson have dedicated their times to make this team successful.

The girls have come this far by encouraging each other, challenging each other, and picking each other up. They’ve worked hard at every practice, learning different positions to step up when other players were injured. They went from opponents, to team mates, to a softball family.

Come out this Sunday to support them, cheer for them and give some words of encouragement. They are representing Grand Terrace in each Little League Tournament. We wish them the best of luck!
