From Disney to the Dodgers

“Listen. Imagine. Create. Inspire.”

Four words pronounce the guiding principles of watercolor artist Sid Bingham, and perhaps explain the breadth of a career as artist, illustrator, designer, and art director. Love and respect for his medium explain its depth. Bingham’s satisfied clients range from the Disney corporation (various aspects), Universal Studios, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, to the Harlem Globetrotters and the LA Dodgers!

Sid Bingham: the Artist began as a Principia College senior looking for the proverbial “easy A.”  Thinking he’d find one in Watercolor 101, his interest and innate talent were instead immediately captured by “the power and magic of the medium” and the chance first to study, and then to travel and paint with his teacher Jim Green, in Europe. Returning to California, he attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, then taught there for over 20 years.

Bingham will be the demonstrating artist/lecturer at the Sunday, October 6 meeting of the *Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association. We love presenting each of our invited artists, because of what they teach us, about materials, techniques and the motivating concepts that draw them to their craft. And we grow, as we absorb new ideas.

Bingham has dared to employ water color in a multitude of projects that would seem to demand a less temperamental medium, and has done so with resounding success. Come prepared to listen to his answers to your questions; imagine the next challenge that beckons you, then leave inspired to create it! Venture to do so as he does: painting in many styles and almost anywhere: while traveling, in a plain air setting, or in his studio. Great fun!

LLCAA* meetings take place at the Loma Linda Senior Center, located at the southeastern corner of the Loma Linda civic complex, which fronts on Barton Road at 25541, Loma Linda.  Meetings are from 2 pm to 4 pm.  The public is invited; a $5.00 donation is requested from non- LLCAA members.  There is no cost to LLU students.
