REDLANDS>> The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) recently awarded a contract for demolition services for a parcel of land across “E” Street from the Downtown San Bernardino Transportation Center. The contract is for the demolition of all structures, removal and disposal of all lead based paint and asbestos containing materials, landscaping, shrubs, tree removal, and grading of the parcels for drainage, including import and export of fill materials as needed, and the removal of utilities and utility lines servicing structures scheduled for demolition.

SBCTA’s construction management team will closely monitor construction activities in an effort to minimize impacts to residents and businesses as much as possible. In order to ensure the safety of residents and construction contractors, it is likely that lane and street closures will occur. Signage will be used to announce closures, as well as detours. Flagmen will be implemented as necessary to ensure access for residents, bus service, and emergency vehicles. The public should expect increased truck and construction traffic as well as increased noise, dust and vibrations during the demolition process.

Construction activities were expected to begin late August and continue through mid-September. More information such as environmental reports and project presentations are available, or if you have  questions, please visit www.redlandsrailproject.org or call our project hotline at 949.991.2312.
