SAN BERNARDINO >> Time for Change Foundation's (TFCF) Hometown Media Hero Award honors members of the media who are providing a voice for the issues that are most important to the community. They do this by spurring engaged conversations about community needs, developing diverse community involvement, and challenging conventional thought moving their audiences to take a more active role on the issues that shape the communities they live in. Combined, Kim and Tommy Morrow share nearly 40 years in the news media and publishing industry. Kimberly (Anthony) Morrow began her career with the goal of championing small business enterprise in Southern California. During her decade-long tenure as Director of Training and Development for the National Black Business Association she was responsible for the incubation and development of thousands of African-American women, minority and small disadvantaged business enterprises. "Through the Urban Business Journal, I was able to synthesize and present this invaluable information in a manner that motivated educated and empowered anyone with a desire to launch and succeed in their own business," explained Kim Morrow. After recognizing the continual negative focus on the African-American community by the mainstream media outlets, Tommy Morrow established Inland Valley News to provide a voice reflecting positive images and stories of people of color for the benefit of society as a whole. "I elected to start an African-American-focused publication that would meet the needs of the African American community," stated Tommy Morrow. Devoted to his vision of inspiring the next generation of leaders, today in its 24th year, the Inland Valley News, through its Inland Valley Scholars Program, has given more than $150,000 in scholarships to deserving students. On April 15, 2016 Time for Change Foundation is honored to present Kim and Tommy Morrow with the Hometown Media Hero Award at their 13th Annual Star Studded Awards Gala. Other Award Honorees include: Dr. Tomás D. Morales with the Community Education Champion Award, SB Strong First Responders with the Ramos Family Spirit of Compassion Award, the Black Chamber of Commerce Inland Empire & the Greater Riverside Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with the Community Chamber Champions Award, Dr. Dale Marsden & Dr. Harold Vollkommer with the Public Education Dynamic Duo Award, Caliber Collision with the Community Business Leader of the Year Award, Alaina Mathews with the Humanitarian of the Year Award, Senator Connie Leyva with the Public Service Champion Award and Manal Iskander with the Community Champion Award.
