The Grand Terrace Woman's Club (GTWC) and the Paragon Tattoo Studio in Moreno Valley worked together to spread the spirit of Christmas once again by managing to pile presents under the tree of those in need this holiday season with their “Toys for Tats” event. Julius Vargas, owner of Paragon Tattoo Studio in Moreno Valley, explained that every person, on Dec. 12, that brought in an unwrapped toy with a value of $15 or higher was able to receive a $20 3x3-size tattoo. “I always wanted to give back and this was our idea to contribute that way,” Vargas said. According to Earle, they collected over 225 toys this year. “He’s got the kindest heart there is,” Earle shared about Vargas. Every toy acquired from the day went straight to students who were less-fortunate and less-likely to receive presents for Christmas. After picking up all the toys Vargas and his Studio collected, the Grand Terrace Women’s Club (GTWC) personally delivered the toys to the students’ families the following Saturday, Dec. 19, at Terrace Hills. “There’s never a dry eye when we do this,” said Earle. “It really means a lot to them. Everyone is always so appreciative.” This holiday season marked the “Toys for Tats” sixth year and according to Earle, they will continue with the selfless event for the foreseeable future. “This year was a good year.. anything we get from them [Paragon] is great,” said Earle. On top of toys, the GTWC also fundraises throughout the year in order to bring these children clothes, as well. Everything, the toys and clothes, are wrapped so the kids can still participate in the fun of ripping open their presents. “It takes a lot of hands,” she chuckled. Each family was also received a $100 Stater Bros. gift card donated by the Lion's Club, presented by Penny Radtke, who is also a member of GTWC.
