Omnitrans, San Bernardino County’s largest public transit agency, has joined Auto Club Speedway in efforts to continue to connect, engage and inspire elementary school children at the track and in the classroom through Lefty’s Kids Club and literacy program – Lefty’s Reading Challenge.

“Our partnership with Omnitrans helps us expand our youth programming that ultimately delivers new opportunities and value for the next generation,” said Dave Allen, President of Auto Club Speedway. “Omnitrans has a strong presence in the community and it aligns with our community outreach programs.”

More than 150,000 students from more than 250 elementary schools in San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange Counties participate in Auto Club Speedway’s free literacy program as part of the annual Lefty’s Reading Challenge.  The month-long reading program kicks-off January 15, 2018, where students will read to earn tickets to NASCAR Auto Club 400 race weekend, a chance to win funds for their school library, and a school-wide pizza party.

As part of the new partnership, OmniTrans will provide a complimentary bus pass to each student that completes Lefty’s Reading Challenge. In addition, Omnitrans will have a display in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Fan Zone at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Auto Club 400 weekend March 16-18, 2018.

“Omnitrans is pleased to partner with the Auto Club Speedway to be part of Lefty’s Reading Challenge,” said Omnitrans Director of Marketing and Planning Wendy Williams. “The program’s commitment to students and schools mirrors our continuing efforts to connect our community in new ways.”
