REDLANDS>> A Redlands man was arrested after a report of a man with a gun resulted in a short vehicle pursuit and subsequent neighborhood search. Redlands Police responded to a call shortly before 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, of a man with a gun in his vehicle at Redlands Boulevard and Citrus Avenue. Officers located and attempted to stop the vehicle in the 800 block of Citrus Avenue. The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle committed several vehicle code violations before crashing into a curb at Aaron Drive and Cambridge Avenue. Both occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Anthony Eric Zaragoza, of Redlands, was caught after a short foot pursuit. The suspect attempted to fight with officers but was taken into custody and no officers were injured. The suspect was checked by Redlands Fire Department paramedics for a complaint of pain and later booked into county jail. A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department air support helicopter along with K-9 units from Redlands and San Bernardino Police assisted in a search for the vehicle’s passenger. After an extensive search, police were unable to locate him. He was eventually identified and located a few hours later. He has not been charged. Police located a replica firearm in the vehicle. Video obtained from the AM/PM gas station convenience store where the call initiated confirmed that Zaragoza was the driver of the vehicle.
