COLTON>> On Friday, September 1, 2017, the Colton location for Center for Employment Training (CET), a non-profit school, located at 1099 N. Pepper Avenue, held the organization's 50th  Anniversary celebration party from noon to 5 p.m. The large parking lot had dozens of community service organizations offering their services to our community. The Facilities Director Pamela Deans introduced Representative Pete Aguilar at 2 p.m. to make a key note address commending the technical trades training association during the 50 years for training and placing over 200,000 workers into tax paying self-sustaining jobs, giving these workers a hand-up to support themselves and their families.

CET got its start in San Jose, CA in the 1960’s when that area was going with higher technology and farms were being converted into industry. The earnest hard-working farm laborers needed to be trained in technical skills for survival. A San Jose Priest, Father Anthony Soto, had a burden for the farm labors in his parish and teamed up with Russell Tershy, a former Peace Corp Administrator. They found a sample training facility in Philadelphia, PA,  from which to model a school.

In 1967, CET was founded to support Cesar Chavez in his work with farm laborers. In 1967, Mr. Tershy began as CEO of the first school in San Jose.

In 2014 CET purchased the World Prophetic Ministry facility at Pepper and San Bernardino Avenue, a large facility and an ideal training center with lots of blacktop, and fenced space for the truck driving school. CET also trains workers in Automotive Specialist, Green Building Construction with Solar, HVAC Technical Machinist/CNC and Welding Fabrication. The accelerated hands-on training goes from 6 to 9 months to prepare our graduates for job placement. Call (909) 428-3818 for more information.
