The Center for Employment Training (CET), a nationally accredited non-profit provider of career and technical education opened its doors to the Colton community Thursday, May 7. With a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by an open house at the new campus, dozens of community members were joined by local and state dignitaries for the celebration, with live DJ entertainment provided by iHeartMedia's Real 92.3 FM. Located at 1099 North Pepper Avenue in Colton, CET will offer several market-driven programs that are affordable and accessible to individuals seeking employment skills in demand by industry in the Inland Empire, explained Leticia Dominguez, CET spokesperson. Their training center offers 27-week intensive training courses in welding, machine shop, automotive, business computer science and green construction, helping put men, women and many veterans back into these industries. It also employs green construction, which is solar friendly, and will help equip students to build using the extensive amount of lumber seen on trains, trucks and in our lumberyards. CET first opened its doors in the Inland Empire in 1979 when its first center opened in Riverside. Founded in 1967, CET is nationally recognized for excellence in job training outcomes in program and job placement assistance. With a network of 15 centers across California, Texas, Illinois, Virginia, and North Carolina, CET has successfully trained and placed over 100,000 individuals, explained Dominguez. Programs offered are Automotive Specialist, Business Office Technology, Green Building Construction Skills, HVAC Technician & Green Technology, Machinist Technology/CNC, Truck Driver, and Welding Fabrication.
