Creating Good Times And Great Memories

Last week the Grand Terrace Library and Friends of the Grand Terrace Library hosted a fun-filled event for the children of the community. All were invited as Full Spectrum Education Services came out to the library and put on a fun and educational show for the young ones. There was a variety of animals on display for all the kids to see. Each animal was brought out and shown to everyone as well as discussed about in detail by the animal expert, Sandee Gee and her animal handler, Breanna Marino Kohnen. There was  6 snakes,  3 lizards,  2 tortoise,  3 turtles,  3 frogs, 1 toad,  2 tarantula’s, 1 scorpion, 1 Halloween Crab, 25 super worms, 6 millipedes, and 6 Adult Hissing Cockroaches + babies.

The kids enjoyed seeing animals that ranged from lizards to snakes and from bugs to turtles. The show favorite was the snakes! The animals could be seen from inside their habitats as well as the snakes could be seen moving around in their bags, that was a scary sight for anyone not used to being around these slithering animals.

Towards the end of the show Sandee Gee and  Breanna Marino Kohnen allowed all the children to line up and give the animals a one finger pet. The children were able to touch the snakes and turtles and even got to play with the bugs!

Gee has been putting on these shows for about 30 years. Gee says, “ We have a variety of Educational Programs such as a Portable Planetarium, Science shows, an Anti-Bully show and the  Wild Things & Animals of Prey show just seemed to round out the curriculum and make it a ‘Full Spectrum’ of Educational programs.”

While the animals and Full Spectrum do shows like this on a regular basis, the kids of Grand Terrace will remember them and their not so furry friends for a long time.
