Country Fair Brings Community Together

This past weekend was a busy one for the city of Grand Terrace. While the city has been busy with political talks and campaigns it still held its annual Country Fair on Saturday November 3rd. Right in City Hall's parking lot! It gave residents and local people a chance for them to come to a community event that was full of good music, lots of fun, and mouth watering foods.

The band Big City Hillbillies were strumming their guitars and singing up a storm all afternoon. Providing great entertainment to listen to and to watch.

Among some of the vendors that were in attendance were the Women's Club of Grand Terrace, The Blue Mountain City booth, and the Friends of the GT Library. Individual booths offered delicately hand crafted items, such as bracelets and necklaces, and beautiful home decorations. There was something for everyone!

One of the popular booths was the Friends of the Grand Terrace library and their book sale. They were selling larger paper bags or you could have brought your own bag and paid only $5 to fill up the entire bag full of books! Many residents stopped by here to take advantage of this awesome sale as they had such a vast variety of books to choose from. From children's books to text books and from religious books to fiction fun reads. Kids could be seen reading up a storm on the floor while parents carefully selected books to fill up their bags.

If you were in attendance at the fair then you most likely found yourself drifting towards the meeting room in city hall. Why? Because that is where all of the sweet and savory smells were coming from! The aromas of baked pies and cookies mixed with the savory smells of the chili cook off attracted many of the fair goers. Even the pickiest of eaters went after the variety of chili recipes that were offered. Nine-year old fair goer Gabriella cannot stand to eat her vegetables, but she had a plate full of different chili recipes in front of her ready to please her taste buds. "This is the best chili ever!" She said excitedly as she made her way around the plate tasting each sample of chili.

The Country Fair was great fun for everyone of all ages. The vendors offered raffle items, the chili was delicious, the baked goods satisfied even the sweetest tooth, and the community enjoyed each others company.
