Construction Alert of Passenger Rail Project

By San Bernardino County Transportation Authority

04/21/2020 at 05:33 PM

Per the Governor’s Executive Order, the transportation and construction sectors are identified as critical. We will continue to progress on our efforts to deliver transportation projects throughout the county. Crews and office support staff are mindful of the need to reduce exposure whenever possible. Field work will incorporate safe practices relative to their operations and office personnel have been given latitude for working remotely as needed. We continue to watch for direction from the State and Federal levels and will assess our activities accordingly. We encourage you to understand the road conditions before venturing out in project areas throughout the county.

As the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) continues construction of the Redlands Passenger Rail Project, crews have completed approximately 40% of the project with civil work completed at a few crossings and some of the bridge work nearing completion as well. The next phase of the project will have crews completing civil work and signal installation at each crossing as well as roadwork activities such as re-paving in and around the crossings. This work will require mostly alternating lane closures with the possibility of full closures.

What to Expect: At times, work throughout the corridor may be loud and cause vibration. You may see flashing lights on trucks, and hear drilling, hammering, truck back-up alarms and equipment engines.

Please remember construction is dynamic and the schedule is weather permitting and subject to change.

RAIL CROSSING CLOSURES

Crews are working at the rail crossings throughout the corridor on weekdays and weekends to prepare for rail crossing installation. Please plan ahead, leave early and allow extra time to reach your destination. Pedestrian access will be available. All businesses are open and accessible during construction.
