The City of Redlands has scheduled another three-day Community Emergency Response Team training March 2-4. The free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

The Redlands CERT program is offering a free 20-hour training program beginning Friday, March 2, from 6 to 10 p.m., and continuing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 3, and Sunday, March 4, in the Brewster Room at Plymouth Village, 945 Salem Drive. Participants must attend all three days to complete the training.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be invited to join the City of Redlands CERT team.
