The time has finally arrived. The mid-term elections are just a few days away on November 6th. We have spent the last few weeks, and months even listening to our candidates and considering what they have to say. Who will be most beneficial to our community? Who is the candidate that will help our great city of Colton strive and become better? Well, that choice is entirely in your hands now.
Residents have gone to the forums, visited the webpages, and followed the social media accounts. It is now our turn for us, members of our respective communities, to carefully consider the people in whom we believe and trust in. The ones we feel will do their best to lead the city, make the difficult choices, and ultimately, listen to our concerns. Now, here are your candidates, measures and polling places that are local to you:

City Measures for you to vote on:
Measure U – Defined: Measure U asks voters to impose a tax on cannabis/marijuana businesses operating in the City. It does not amend the City’s existing cannabis regulations or authorize new or additional types of cannabis businesses to operate in the City.
If approved, Measure U would impose a maximum tax rate on cannabis businesses of up to $25 per square foot of space used for cannabis cultivation and/or processing, and up to 10% of gross receipts from the sale of cannabis or cannabis products.
Measure V – Defined: Measure V asks voters to continue the City’s existing transfer of a limited portion of annual Electric Utility surplus funds to the City’s General Fund. Those funds can then be used in our community to maintain Colton City services.
If approved Measure V would provide funding for the City of Colton to maintain current service levels including 911 emergency response (fire, police, paramedics), streets and roads maintenance, parks, library and senior services, and recreational activities. All funds (100%) generated by Measure V will stay IN Colton.
If Measure V is not approve the City will have to reduce general City services, such as police, firefighter, paramedic and senior and community services.
