While the A.K. Smiley Public Library building is closed to the public during the ongoing Covid 19 crisis, preschool children can still enjoy virtual Story Time every Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. on the library’s Young Readers Room Facebook page.

Ms. Pamela (senior librarian Pamela Martinez) conducts preschool virtual Story Time through Facebook Live, reading books designed for children ages 4 to 6. Ms. Pamela also entertains the children with her famous song stylings.  Virtual Story Time can be found at https://www.facebook.com/YoungReadersRoomatAKSmileyPublicLibrary

Baby virtual Story Time is Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m.. Log onto Facebook Live to watch and listen along as Ms. Kristina and Ms. Ariel (library specialist Kristina Naftzger and library clerk Ariel Castillo) read some of the best stories designed for newborns to 2 years old. Songs and finger plays are part of the fun.

Beginning Saturday, April 11, the library will offer a Spanish-language virtual Story Time to be viewed on the Young Readers Room Facebook page and on the library’s website. Ms. Maria (associate archivist Maria Carrillo) will read popular Spanish-language books aimed at young readers age 6 and under.

If you can’t log in live, story times are archived and available on the Young Readers Room Facebook page.

To help celebrate poetry month, join Ms. Pamela and her Merry Poets as they demonstrate their poetry chops. Every weekday morning at 10 a.m. a new poem will be posted on the Young Readers Room Instagram Stories page:  https://www.instagram.com/akspl_kids
