Mayor's Weekly Message

Dear Moreno Valley Residents:

As we pause at this time of year to reflect on the many things for which we are grateful, I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as Mayor of the great City of Moreno Valley. I take my responsibilities humbly and with great commitment, and appreciate the honor of serving you each day. 

We all look forward to watching parades and sporting events, reuniting with family members or friends, and enjoying a Thanksgiving meal. This year, let’s also contemplate the true meaning of this holiday. Although the meaning has undergone changes as the years have passed, Thanksgiving is ultimately a time to express gratitude. 

I would like to express my appreciation for all of the significant achievements we have made as a City. This year we were rated as the 3rd financially strongest City in the nation. The Moreno Valley Public Library’s second location is under construction at the Moreno Valley Mall and will open its doors in December. Our business attraction website won a Gold Excellence Award from the International Economic Development Council. We launched the “Take Back Our Streets” program to repair roads throughout the Moreno Valley. More pets than ever before found loving homes thanks to the hard work of the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter staff. The City installed its first inclusive playground at Shadow Mountain Park. And our public safety teams continue to make our City one of the safest in the region. I am grateful to our City Council and our dedicated City staff for making these accomplishments possible. Together we are transforming our young City into a mature community that offers its residents and businesses an unsurpassed level of service.  

I am also very thankful to the Moreno Valley community, where we see so much kindness in the hearts of this City’s residents. Whether they are donating toys in our Spark of Love toy drive, or beautifying the community during the Day of Service, or even pulling a stranger out of a burning vehicle -- the people of Moreno Valley always seize opportunities to help one another.
