Community Invited to Attend Fundraiser for Councilmember LaDonna Jempson

MORENO VALLEY>> The National Alliance of Free Women, Inc. will hosts a fundraiser for Councilmember D. LaDonna Jempson for her re-election campaign bid Saturday, Sept. 24 from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited to attend the fundraiser titled "Simply Speaking: Truths” at Edgemont Community Center, located at 21640 Cottonwood Ave, Moreno Valley, CA 92553 Jempson is a member of the Moreno Valley City Council, elected in 2014, and previously represented Council District 5, which was changed to Council District 1. Jempson was born in Corning, New York and moved to California upon high school graduation in 1974 to attend the University of San Francisco. "LaDonna is an effective, efficient and exceptional councilmember due to her bilingual abilities," said Dr. Mary McBean, President of the The National Alliance of Free Women, Inc. Jempson moved to Moreno Valley in 1985 to marry Cleotha (Jackie) Jempson. Together, they have a blended family of three boys, one girl and two grandchildren, where they are each products of the Moreno Valley Unified School District. She is employed as a Human Resources Manager and has held this position for the last 20 years. Jempson said feels strongly that her mission in life is a mission of service. Jempson said she sees service as a valuable action, deed, or effort performed to satisfy a need or to fulfill a demand, which she said she will do if re-elected as councilmember of District 1. Jempson serves on the Soroptimist Club of Moreno Valley, Moreno Valley Historical Society and the African American Coalition. She has also served with the Moreno Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Moreno Valley Ballet Folklorico Association, 23rd District PTA and locally with the Moreno Valley Council PTA and units at the school sites, Safe Routes to School (Community Now) and Music Changing Lives. She was appointed to the July 4th Advisory Board and the Measure A Citizens Oversight Committee. She has received recognition throughout her 29+ years in Moreno Valley which included the President’s Award by the Moreno Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Community Partner Award by the Riverside YWCA and the Honorary Service Award by the Riverside County 23rd District PTA. Jempson said she is concerned with all areas of the city which includes diversifying job opportunities, strengthening relationships with the business community, including the school districts and March Joint Powers Authority and improving the quality of life for all residents.
