MORENO VALLEY>> For the first time in program history, California Baptist University will have two stunt teams competing at the National Cheerleaders Association College National Championship in April. "To have two groups ranked at the top with D-I teams is a true testament to the skills and talents of this team," said Coach Tami Fleming. "These eight girls have done a great job representing CBU and I can't wait to see how their hard work pays off at nationals." In order to qualify, each group of four cheerleaders submits a video that shows the group competing in 45 seconds to one minute of non-stop stunting, demonstrating very advanced skills and against tough competition. A committee then judges all of the 25 submissions, and while scores are not released, the placements are posted with the top 11 teams moving on to compete on the national stage. The two Lancer groups took sixth and seventh, with only D-I and D-IA schools placing higher than them. Taylor Contratto, Taylor Frasca, Dazmyn Dull and Evynn Richard teamed up to take sixth, while Raylene Sadorra, Morgan Willis, Alexis Humphrey and Breanna Krombs combined to make up the other CBU team. CBU has had a stunt group represent at the NCA National Championship the past two years. Both Lancer groups will look to hold up to their qualification placements and build on the CBU's highest national placing of eighth - which they set in their first year competing as a stunt group. The Lancers take to the Daytona Beach Bandshell April 5-9 in Daytona Beach, Fla., where CBU will look to win another NCA Championship with an unprecedented fifth crown.
