The sun was shining and the weather was just right for some Saturday morning football for a myriad of Grand Terrace residents and members from nearby communities, too. Proud parents and eager kids gathered at Grand Terrace High School Saturday, Aug. 22, with one goal in mind: to kick off this next exciting season of mini football. The event started off at 9 a.m. and was filled with food, football, and smiles until about 1:30 that afternoon. The Grand Terrace Titans president welcomed everyone into the stadium to get the football-filled day started. Community members were greeted with the smell of buttery popcorn and cheesy nachos as they entered the stadium. The Opening Ceremonies consisted of various vendors that accommodated almost every craving. "We're all very excited to get this year started," said Hayward Robinson, president of the league. "We thank everyone who has made our fifth season happen," he said. Before the boys took the field, Robinson introduced each team individually as the players got pumped up for their upcoming games. The GT Titans micro team were the first to hit the field for their scrimmage against the San Hi Spartans. The Grand Terrace Lady Titans Cheer Squad performed an exciting routine to help pump up the the audience and teams for their games. This is the 5th season of the Grand Terrace Titans Jr. All American Football and Cheer. Their vision is "to not only have fun learning the game of football and the spirit of cheer, but to also build their character and self esteem by practicing teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, pride and academic excellence."
