Join more than 2,500 non-profit leaders in the Greater Los Angeles Five-County Region who have participated in Annenberg Alchemy, the Annenberg Foundation’s free non-profit leadership training. “Annenberg Alchemy’s FREE Leadership Seminar in the IE started in 2006 when the foundation did a scan of the landscape and found there was a need for fund raising engagement and to help non-profits identify, recruit and train the right board members to help create sustainability,” said Juliet Flores, senior program associate with Annenberg Alchemy. The seminars were first brought to the Inland Empire in March of 2014. “The foundation saw a high need area with a lot of non-profits doing important and meaningful work. However there are not too many opportunities for funding and training,” said Flores. Annenberg Alchemy’s Leadership Seminar course offers: • Three days of workshops and discussion groups led by nationally-respected practitioners • Effective strategies that address critical issues including fundraising, board effectiveness and accountability • On-going guidance and follow-up sessions • Connection to a growing network of nonprofit peers and experts through learning communities and social media 1,052 organizations have participated in Alchemy since it began in 2006. 2,578 non-profit leaders have participated: 1,526 Board leaders and 1,052 Executive Directors. “The 1,052 organizations attending Alchemy Leadership Seminar see immediate and significant increases in Board Member giving and Board-led fundraising,” said Flores. The goals of the training are to: Build sustainable non-profit organizations that can focus on achieving impact and improving our communities; strengthen the effectiveness of non-profit boards and their partnership with executive leadership; and increase the fundraising capability and engagement of boards and executive directors. Leadership Seminar in the Inland Empire will be held on Monday, Mar. 21; Tuesday, Mar. 22 and Saturday, June 4, 2016. The sole cost of admission is the attendance of both the Executive Director and the Board Chair during all three days of training. Flores says, the three days of training really enhances the relationship between the executive director and board president and trains them to have aligned goals. The training also creates that support among non-profits to collaborate and extend their networks on future projects. Space is limited for the trainings, applications open on Jan. 4, 2016 and close Jan. 29. The Inland Empire classes will take place at the Girls Scouts of San Gorgonio’s office in Redlands. Annenberg Alchemy is a free capacity-building and leadership-development program designed to assist small to mid-sized non-profit organizations and their leaders. Annenberg Alchemy includes two phases: Leadership Seminar, Alchemy's signature course, and Alchemy+ (the higher-level course for graduates of Leadership Seminar who want to take their learning further). The Annenberg Foundation is a member of the Inland Empire Funders’ Alliance, a collaborative group of large regional-funding agencies that have joined together to increase communication, collaboration, and coordination among regional funders. The primary goals of the Alliance include: regional networking and information sharing between large funders; advocacy for the needs of the region; leveraging of funds to maximize impact on common goals; and Increasing the capacity of service providers within the region. The Annenberg Foundation is a family foundation founded by Walter H. Annenberg. Serving as Ambassador to the Court of St. James from 1968 to 1974, Ambassador Annenberg enjoyed a distinguished career as a publisher, broadcaster, diplomat and philanthropist. He was President, and subsequently, Chairman of the Board, of Triangle Publications, which included TV Guide and Seventeen magazine, as well as radio and TV stations nation-wide. The Annenberg Foundation was established in 1989 with $1.2 billion, one third of the assets from the sale of Triangle Publications. For more information, visit www.annenbergalchemy.org.
