CC/SB>> Dr. Eunice Moore, of Bloomington, California has recently announced her retirement.

Moore has spent the past 24 years teaching at Cooley Ranch Elementary school. She has touched thousands of young minds. She hopes the kids will take away from her class the idea to never give up, no matter what and to keep a sense of humor.

Dr. Moore is 62.  She has been married for 45 year and has 4 kids, all of whom attended school in Bloomington. She also has six grand kids and three great grand kids.

When asked, “What inspires you?”  She says, Her own children (2 boy and 2 girls.) “I watched them grow up and I am so proud of the choices they have made. All of them are well educated with degrees in their chosen field.   They make me very proud.”

Dr. Moore has always been very active in the community. She has been citizen of the year for San Bernardino, Fontana and Bloomington.

She was the second Aqua Mansa PTA president, as well as unit president at Crestmore Elementary.

Moore was also a leader in Disaster Preparedness Planning. She recalls how, when the program first started, they gave away 200 safety preparedness buckets.

“We got the buckets from the doughnut shops,” said Moore. “We cleaned and reused them. I have always tried to make the most of what I had on hand.”

Dr. Moore has many accomplishments. She was one of the 25 teachers chosen to attend the science academy in California, where for approximately 6 months, she had hands on experiences learning about earthquakes on the San Andreas fault, going through caverns and much more. After completing training, she and several others sat down and wrote lesson plans for all the teachers to use.

Dr. Moore has always loved being an educator. “I try to learn something new every day. I have a poster of one of my role models in my class room, Maya Angelou.

The poster states, ‘when you know what you want shout it out so everyone can hear you.’  I wanted to be in a marathon and so I trained and finished the LA marathon; I wanted a doctorate and received it a few years ago.

Never give up!  If I had the power, I would grant free college to everyone so they could have the opportunity to reach their potential,” said Moore.

Of retiring, Moore described it as “tough” but she won’t miss the alarm clock.  “I want to be able to sleep in and get up any time I want. I am currently writing two books and now will have time to finish them.

Retiring will also give me and my husband a chance to travel, which we love to do. We already have our next trip planned, we are going to Italy.

After that we are thinking of getting a motor home and traveling the United States.

There is so many things out there to see and learn.”
