Artists are the Luckiest People in the World

The Loma Linda Art Association is delighted to welcome landscape-loving California artist, Nita Harper, on Sunday March 1, at 2 pm. She will demonstrate her techniques and discuss with attendees her approach to the employment of oils in painting.

Ms Harper was, like many creative people, inspired to express that gift at an early age, as she began painting. Her grandfather was a professional artist of some renown, and passed both his ability and love of art to his talented granddaughter.

Having lived in several parts of the U.S., she has been “exposed to the (splendor of) the country’s varied landscape”, but is particularly drawn to “the vast, unspoiled lands of the American Southwest.” Nita has augmented her natural talents with travel to many beautiful painting destinations, and following formal university-level art education, has studied with a number of accomplished fellow artists. In addition to membership in PAC6 (a group of women artists who have committed themselves to retracing the footsteps of early male western-focused painters), she belongs to several local and national societies.

Our adventurous guest considers a painting trip on horseback into the eastern Sierras, the “trip of a lifetime! Harper is an artist who loves living in the desert. She makes use of contrasting temperature challenges by doing plein-air work in the winter, and (one hopes) the air-conditioned comfort of her studio during summer heat.

The Loma Linda Art Association meets in the Loma Linda Senior Center, located at the southeastern corner of the Loma Linda civic complex, at 25541 Barton Road, Loma Linda. We cordially invite the art-minded public to join us for the event on Sunday, March 1, from 2 pm to 4 pm. A $5.00 donation will be requested at the door, from non-LLAA members. There is never any charge for LLU students.
