SAN BERNARDINO>> The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors met with County Chief Executive Officer Greg Devereaux Tuesday, Sept. 20 to evaluate the CEO's performance of the county government. The evaluations occur about every three months after the board approves each quarterly budget. "I am happy to say that the board is pleased with the manner in which the CEO is managing the organization under the board's direction and interacting with the Board of Supervisors," said James Ramos, Board of Supervisors Chairman, in a statement. "The board believes county government is effectively addressing the needs of the county community, operating in an efficient and business-like manner. We are optimistic about the future with Mr. Devereaux continuing to serve us and the county as CEO." According to the statement, the board and the CEO agreed earlier this year to conduct these evaluations more frequently than the previous practice of once per year in order to facilitate increased communication. Ramos said this specific evaluation was focused on feedback from the board. Ramos said Devereaux clearly defines the basic purpose and mission of county government, ensures accountability at all levels of the organization, communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders and has established an effective organizational structure. In the statement, Ramos said the board and the CEO also discussed building upon their success, and some areas where improvement would ensure the county moves in a positive direction. "As a lifelong resident of San Bernardino County, I can say that county government has never been more effective than it is today," Ramos said in the statement. "We look forward to working together to accomplish even more and progress further toward realizing our county's full potential."
