On Monday, Jan. 26, Craig Wayne Boyd visited the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital to perform a few songs for all of the visitors of the hospital, courtesy of K-FROG 95.1. The country artist performed three songs for patients, their families, and LLUCH staff in the hospital lobby before taking photos with his little fans. Boyd was born and raised in Texas and was drawn to gospel and country music as a young boy. He was active in his church choir for many years and eventually became its director. Boyd moved to Nashville in 2004 when he was 25 years old to pursue his long-time dream of starting a career in the music business. Eventually, Boyd was signed to a label and went on to perform local gigs, national tours, write songs and more. After 10 years of working on his career, Boyd was ready to give up on his dream because of financial and other pressures. On Sept. 30, 2014, Boyd auditioned for the television show "The Voice," where aspiring musical artist come to audition for their chance at stardom. Boyd was immediately picked up by one of the judges and went on to become the season seven winner. Many hospital patients and families came out to visit Boyd, who loved being able to help the children going dealing with illness and injury. “I fell very honored to do stuff like this,” Boyd, who has visited other children’s hospitals in the past, said, “I just hope that this aids in their healing process and gives them a little peace.” Boyd chose to sing his hit single, “Ain’t No Quitter,” to his small, but special audience. Boyd wrote the song prior to “The Voice,” during his own time of struggle. “I thought it was a perfect song choice,” Boyd said.
