Pastor Eric Strutz opened with prayer and Pastor Tom Dicus was the emcee. After self-introductions with approximately nine pastors attending, Dr. G, Louis Gonzales, city council and a Colton High School teacher, a trumpet solo of “His Eye is on the Sparrow” with the history of the writer, Silva Martin, was provided. Jerry Almendarez, Colton Joint Unified School District Superintendent, spoke. He shared that he was a graduate of Colton High School, and worked for Stater Brother’s markets in the Finance Department before becoming a teacher at Bloomington High School. A group prayer was had by the pastors for Almendarez, led by Pastor Pete Tasaka. Pastor Mitch from Centerpoint lead several songs. Mayor DeLaRosa spoke on why the community needs prayer in our city council. The major responsibility to our community is in our decisions and why we need God to guide us in those decisions. The community has been growing due to decisions made by the very people who support the city. The west end of our city at Pepper and Valley is going to be developed in the near future with hotel, restaurants, gas station, retail and housing. CalMed, a training hospital, only three in the nation, is being built in our city. This will be a great compliment to the Arrowhead Regional Hospital. Our parks are going to be up-graded. We have the support of Congresswoman Cheryl Brown and Senator Leyva. County Supervisor Jose Gonzales is aware of our storm drains and senior housing. A group prayer was had by the pastors for Mayer DeLaRosa, led by Pastor Dane Aaker. Pastor Paul Stump led the pastors in prayer for our Police and Fire Departments. The Colton Women’s Club served a delicious complementary breakfast on beautifully fall-decorated tables. Pastor Conrad Valdez closed in prayer.
