GRAND TERRACE >> It is time for the spring sign ups for the Grand Terrace Community Soccer Club which can provide a chance for children and teens to learn the game of soccer while having fun too. The Grand Terrace Community Soccer Club has been serving Grand Terrace and other surrounding cities for many years. According to the Grand Terrace Soccer Club website, their mission is to help advance the cause of soccer within the city by promoting sportsmanship among the children and offering all levels of the sport to the city’s youth. Players from 4 to 18 years old in all surrounding communities are encouraged to play in both the fall and spring seasons. Grand Terrace Soccer Club offers competitive teams, educational clinics and programs for all aspects of soccer. To register for the spring season, players must bring birth certificates if the player has not played in league within the last 3 years. There are no special requirements for a child to play in the league except that they must be at least four years old as of midnight on Dec 31, of the year of registration. Registration costs $65 per child enrolled in the soccer club. Registration fees help to pay for uniforms, participation trophies and general operating expenses. Other than the registration fee, teams also have a team fee. The amount is determined by each team and can help pay for a team banner, lettering on jerseys and team parties. Registration began Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Rollins Park, located in Grand Terrace, and will continue Wednesdays, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, 8 and 22. They will also be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, Feb. 4 and 18. There will be no late registrations for this season and no fundraising obligations. The Grand Terrace Soccer Club suggests buying your child shin guards, cleats and a water bottle before starting their first practice.
